Service & Education Credits



  • Service & Education Credits are issued only when the designated criteria are satisfactorily fulfilled according to VPPA Policy.
  • VPPA Degrees are awarded for a combination of Image and Service Credits.
  1. Each Seminar, Convention, Committee, Additional Education, Officer Assignment completed per VPPA Policy will receive credits per the Credit Report Form (see below).
  2. Request for credits and proof of service must be sent to the District Director and registered with the Executive Secretary by December 31 each year.
  3. Service Credits cannot be earned for any Association Activity which receives compensation. However, any individual who is exempt for a compensated responsibility is not exempt from additional member-related activities.
  4. Service/Education credits can only be earned by VPPA members.
  5. Service/Education credits are not automatic. Criteria and standards must be approved and met. It is the responsibility of the member to monitor any potential credits that are not automatically reported by the member management system and/or by State/District Officers as well as Committee Chairs. Normally volunteer credits which require a form to be submitted are the most used.
  6. Each District Director may award 2 Service Credits annually, either 2 credits to one person or 1 credit to two persona for any extraordinary support they received throughout the year.

Please note: Service Credits earned through VPPA are not National PPA Service Merits. They are VPPA Service Credits and apply only to VPPA Degrees. To earn National PPA Service Merits you must attend PPA Approved Schools, A Super Monday Class, or Attend the National PPA Convention.

VOLUNTEER ACTIVITIES (NON VPPA) 1
Volunteer for a Local or State Organization (6 max a year) All volunteer activities must be pre-approved by an appointed VPPA representative. Submissions require proof of volunteerism from the organization. Qualifying activities include sharing photography education, judging for groups, or donating your photography services to non-profits like NILMDTS, Operation Smile, and Scouts. Paid services or paid education do not qualify. The VPPA Board of Directors has the right to refuse submissions. All submissions must be received by the appointed VPPA representative by December 31st.
